Unit 22.21 Generating Ideas for your Film

In this section you need to create evidence of generating or coming up with ideas and the process you have worked through.

1. Create a mindmap or brainstorm of your initial ideas, you can refer to a few different ideas at this stage-  ideally include characters, locations, themes, plot
2. Create research notes on moving image products that you have gathered ideas or influences from- these could include films, short films, TV shows, adverts, music videos etc. You can refer to plots, characters, locations, camera shots, edit techniques. Include images where possible.
3. Create a basic outline for your final film- include characters, locations, themes, plot
4. Create a mood board to give an impression of the main visual look of the film and to show visual references. See examples below:
