Merit	The short film has been produced to a proficient technical standard of skill in shooting and editing.   There is some degree of confidence in the use of the camera equipment and the sequence has been edited to make sense and attempt to build tension. There is some imagination with a mixture of shot sizes that are engaging, used to create variety and show significance though meaning. There is expression of meaning through angles. There is some use of artificial or natural lighting to generate mood, but limited to some shots and not consistent
Distinction	The short film has been produced to an overall excellent technical standard and reflects near-professional practice. Cinematography contains a variety of appropriate and purposeful shot sizes and camera angles and some well composed framing to create meaning and mood, shooting skills are creative and consistent  across the sequence. Non-linear editing techniques are employed intentionally and thoughtfully to fit with the narrative. Continuity is adhered to throughout the edit and you are able to maintains flow across shots. Although natural lighting has be used, this has been colour graded creatively to generate mood and to add to the realism. You may have used articial lighting to create low key lighting and suitable mood
