2. Task 1: Generate ideas for your Horror or Thriller 1 minute Short Film:

Task 1 Instructions (1 hour):
  • Research news articles, song lyrics, or short stories for inspiration
  • Look at the Youtube Short Horror Playlist
  • Identify what we mean by a 'Hook' (look at slides 1-5, and slide 13 below)
  • Create a Mood Board to generate an idea for a 1 minute Short Film (use this post to help: Unit 22.21 Generating Ideas for your Film)
  • Include images for Beginning, Middle and End
  • What is your Hook, how will it contain a Twist or involve a non-linear/alternative narrative structure
Some examples of Short Film 'Hooks' (see the Presentation below)

(the above counts as research...)

3. Task 2: Audience Research (30 mins): Using the playlist above, identify the target audience for the most popular existing Horrors or Thrillers (size by likes, views etc) for these Short Films on Youtube - look at the subscribers/comments and their profiles and consider the age and gender.

Then collect primary research (30 mins) from your intended audience to inform your idea using their Social Network profiles (interests, what they would be able to relate to etc).

Present this on your blog as a 300 word summary with screengrabs as evidence of your feedback/conducting of primary research/size of audience/profiles looked at etc (30 - 45 mins)

Your research and ideas to be presented and pitched to the class on Monday 4th Jan (FSA 2)
